Report: How AI will influence the future of digital user engagement

November 13, 2025

AI is opening a new chapter in digital banking—one that’s more personal, intelligent, and intuitive. Beyond machine learning, emerging technologies like natural language processing, generative AI, and agentic AI are helping financial institutions simplify operations, personalize every user interaction, and deliver digital experiences that feel truly human.

In Lumin’s latest research report, we explore how these new forms of AI are reshaping what’s possible, and what it means for the future of digital user engagement.

The findings suggest that older Americans may be more open and curious about AI-enabled financial services than long assumed, joining the younger generations.

  • Digital Natives (ages 18-34) and Digital Adapters (ages 35-64) are most likely to agree that AI tools can help them improve their financial situation.
  • While only 23% of Digital Reactives (age 65+) agree with that sentiment, 46% of them are neutral—potentially representing an opportunity to significantly expand adoption by bridging the gap between curiosity and confidence through clear value demonstrations and human-centered design.
